Info for Oral Presenters

You have 25 minutes allotted to your concurrent session presentation. We suggest you limit your presentation to 15 or 20 minutes, and allow 10 - 15 minutes for questions. At the end of each presentation 5 minutes is scheduled to allow people to move between sessions.

Please check with the session leader to find out if Microsoft PowerPoint presentations are being accepted. If they are, your session leader will communicate directly with you on the deadline for getting presentations to them.

Room assignments for each session will be made shortly. Concurrent sessions will be held on the Skywalk and Third Floor levels of the Harbor Side Conference Center. Check the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center (DECC) website to view the floor plan: www.decc.org/cc/capacity.htm. Click on "View Our Floorplan," then "Skywalk and Third Level."

June 24, 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM: Poster set up, Harbor Side Ballroom
June 24, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM: Poster Session, Harbor Side Ballroom

Please pay attention to the location of your poster board. This will be listed in the abstract section of the workshop program, which you will receive when you register. Posters may be set up between 7:30 PM and 9:00 PM, Saturday, June 23, and Sunday from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM. If you choose to set up your poster Saturday night, the poster boards will be located on the Skyway level, near the registration table. The poster boards will be moved to their display location on the third floor after the wedding reception has ended.

Poster boards are 4 feet high and 8 feet in length. They are placed on legs. Each poster board will accommodate one poster on each side. The poster board is made of bulletin-board material, appropriate for push- pins or thumbtacks. While pushpins or thumbtacks will be provided, you may wish to bring your own to minimize shortages. You may NOT use Velcro dots or strips to affix your poster. You may NOT use staples, glue, paste or nails to attach your poster to the poster board.

In addition, NAFEW will NOT provide equipment or electricity for use of projection or computer animation involved with a poster presentation. You MAY use charts, graphs, maps, photographs, illustrations and pictures.

Each poster board will be numbered. In the program, find your poster number for the session you are in and put your poster on the correctly numbered board at the time indicated in the program.

We ask that you be present to present your poster between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM Sunday evening, for the official poster session and social hour. Posters must be removed by 10:00 PM, Tuesday, June 26. Any posters left up after the deadline for removal will be taken down and will be discarded.

As of May 1, you may no longer make changes to your abstract. The heading across the top of the poster should be exactly the same as the abstract in the program, i.e., title, authors, and institutions, with letters large enough to be read from approximately 20 feet away.

Posters should include the abstract, introduction to the general topic and the reason the work was done, followed by an explanation of the methods, presentation of results and a clear conclusion of the contribution of the work to science. Make it easy to follow the flow of information on the poster by providing titles on each graph, table or picture. Label each section clearly, in letters large enough to read from 5 to 10 feet away. General text on the poster should be readable from a minimum of 5 feet away as well.

You may view the layout of the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center (DECC) by entering the following website: www.decc.org/cc/capacity.htm. Click on "View Our Floorplan," then "Skywalk and Third Level." The poster area will be in the Harbor Side Ballroom in front of the windows overlooking the harbor.
