2021 Webinar: Ash Management Guidelines: A Policy Update from MN DNR-Forestry

Understory of an ash swamp

Updates on a major new policy from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry: The threat posed to Minnesota's vast ash-dominated wet forest systems by emerald ash borer require a coordinated response. We'll hear from Mike Reinikainen or Paul Dubuque about newly released statewide ash management guidelines. The newly published guidelines address silvicultural interventions, replacement species, and the potential for long-term loss of productive forest cover. (If available for public release by our presentation date, we may also hear from Paul Dubuque about Operational Order 124, Plant Material and Assisted Migration Standards for Native Plant Communities.) Both policies reflect many months of analysis and may be of interest to managers on other public and private lands as well.
