Recap: Timber sales from a wildlife habitat perspective workshops

June 26, 2015

DNR forester Jason Bushmaker introduces the first field site at the Tettegouche workshop.

On June 24, we wrapped up a successful series of workshops on timber sales from a wildlife habitat perspective. As we have done with some other workshops in the past, we invited both MLEP-member loggers and SFEC-member natural resource managers. Our hope was to get folks talking about timber sale design, building understanding of why sales are set up the way they are. Discussions like that can quickly get nasty when a contract is on the line, but less so in a workshop environment. The workshops were a big success in this regard – the discussions, particularly at field sites, were excellent. We’ve posted photos, agendas, and some other info here for the record.
