2015 Symposium and field day: Introducing the Great Lakes Silviculture Prescription Library

people in forest

Every silviculture treatment is an experiment. But too often we fail to document or share the lessons we learn. Along with a number of partners, we are working to change that.

We are excited to launch the new Great Lakes Silviculture Library . Developed in collaboration with the Minnesota Forest Resources Partnership with contributions from many organizations, the Silviculture Library will document real-world silviculture treatments from Minnesota, Michigan, Ontario, and Wisconsin.

people in forestThis event will feature indoor and (mostly) field presentations from the land managers who have contributed their work to the library thus far. You’ll hear about a landscape-scale effort to restore jack pine woodlands in Wisconsin; black ash replacement trials in Wisconsin; seed-tree and direct seeding treatments in native pine and spruce in Minnesota; an innovative approach to northern hardwoods management in Wisconsin, and much more. Presenters represent public and private owners from across the Great Lakes.

This will be an opportunity to meet others who share your experience and may have answers to inform your work. And we hope you will bring your own questions and insights to share as well.
