This October 2026 classroom and field-based workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to Minnesota's Forest Management Guidelines. An essential workshop for all Minnesota forest managers and logging contractors offered jointly by SFEC and the Minnesota Logger Education Program.
The topics that we will be covering include: harvest planning, dry wash gullies, leave trees and wildlife, and erosion control. The format of this workshop is focused on discussions and hands-on activities related to the Forest Management Guidelines. Cost:
This event is open to all interested learners. $75 for members, $140 for non members, $40 for students. Logging contractors can register through the Minnesota Logger Education Program.

11:30 - 12:15 pm - Lunch
12:15 - 12:50 pm- Transit to field site and break into groups
12:50 - 4:00 pm - Small groups rotate through stations in the field

Logistics and accessibility
We will spend the morning indoors through lunchtime and will be in the field with limited access to restrooms in the afternoon. Please dress accordingly and be prepared in case of rain. Lunch will be provided.
