Learn how to identify and report invasive plants early, before they become big trouble. You will learn identification skills and apply them to target species samples to distinguish them from common look-alikes. Four free workshops offered across Minnesota in April 2026. 

An entirely field-based workshop for the Ecosilv 2026 cohort centered around reading a system's ecological trajectory. Satisfies the required Site Assessment and Prescription Writing credit for the Ecosystem Silviculture course. 

This field-based workshop will address silvicultural strategies for fire-dependent systems using the Minnesota DNR's silvicultural guidance as well as on-the-ground insights from local foresters. We'll discuss silviculture at all stages of stand development in these systems as well as logistics associated with implementing - or mimicking - prescribed fire. 

This field-based workshop will feature field sites and discussions centered around uneven-aged silviculture in northern hardwoods. Throughout the day we'll unpack how foresters can manage for complexity while incorporating operability and marketability considerations in these stands.
