This classroom and field-based workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to Minnesota's Forest Management Guidelines. An essential workshop for all Minnesota forest managers and logging contractors offered jointly by SFEC and the Minnesota Logger Education Program.
The topics that we will be covering include: harvest planning, wetland basics, riparian management zones/filter strips, leave trees and wildlife, and erosion control. The format of this workshop is focused on discussions and hands-on activities related to the Forest Management Guidelines. Location: Deep Portage Conservation Reserve near Hackensack, MN.
Cost: This event is open to all interested learners. $75 for members, $140 for non members, $40 for students. Logging contractors can register through the Minnesota Logger Education Program.
Logistics and accessibility: Details are being finalized, but we will be in the field for much of the day as we rotate among field stations with access to porta-potties; please dress accordingly and be prepared in case of rain. Lunch will be provided.
