Webinar: ForCAST: The Forest Change Assessment and Simulation Tool

May 13, 9-10am

The University of Minnesota’s Natural Resources Research Institute has been working to evaluate what Minnesota’s forest landscape might look like as our economy and climate undergoes increasing changes.  Using LANDIS, a forest landscape change model, we ran simulations to determine how forest composition and the goods and services that forests provide will change from 2020 to 2100 under select harvest volume and climate scenarios. The goal of this project is to help Minnesotans understand both how forests might change under pressure from changing markets and a changing climate over time and how society values the goods and services they provide. The goal of this webinar will be to introduce natural resource managers to the work that was done and how they can use the online tool, ForCAST (Forest Change Assessment and Simulation Tool) to select areas of interest, select scenarios and outputs and run reports.

Each webinar is rated for one CAT1 credit; participants, keep an eye on the chat for the link to the webinar CE request form towards the end of the hour. We will record each webinar and post it on the SFEC YouTube Channel. Recordings are typically available within one week of the live broadcast.
